Urban Tree Festival

WHACS participated in the sixth annual national celebration of urban trees on May 17, 2023, in West Hendon, offering activities and discussions on the value of trees in urban areas, supported by local eco-initiatives and sponsorships.

WHACS joined the sixth annual national celebration of urban trees, running from Saturday 13th to Sunday 21st May 2023, with our own West Hendon event on 17 May, 17:30 - 19:45, in the Community Hub, Perryfield Way.  The festival explored the importance and value of trees in our towns and cities, asking key questions; Why are trees great for everyone? What can you do to celebrate and protect trees in your area? How can connecting with nature and trees in an urban setting improve your health and wellbeing?  What are urban developers and regeneration schemes doing to promote trees?  Supported with information and activities from  Barnet’s Eco Show and Tell and sponsored by North West London Waste Authority and Barnet Council this event was great fun for West Hendon residents, with terrarium making, plants swaps, info on food growing and plans to ‘green’ the area.
