The Black History Month event, attended by 100-200 people, was a success largely due to Lisa Ellis's programming and Astrid Levitt's arts and crafts activities, featuring musical performances from young musicians and traditional dancers, as well as Persian music by Peyman Heydarian on the santur.
It was a brilliant event, with an estimated 100 -200 attendees. Thanks, for the most part, to the huge work effort put in by Lisa Ellis on programming and Astrid Levitt on the arts and crafts activities. There were wonderful musical contributions from New Citizens Gateway - Arad age 14 on piano, and Parham age 19 on guitar, as well as 2 adult traditional dancers.
Peyman Heydarian, a Persian musician, played the santur which is astringed instrument of the hammered dulcimer family that is found in various forms across southeastern Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Food and refreshments were provided by local vendors. People loved it. We collected lots of comments on what a great event this was.
