Black History Month
On 18 October 2023, a vibrant Black History Month event was held indoors due to bad weather, featuring activities like African mask making, storytelling, hair braiding, and dancing to a steel band, with Barnet's first Black councillor, Agnes Slocombe, sharing stories about the Windrush Generation.
Christmas Event
The Christmas event attracted children and adults who enjoyed festive foods, crafts, storytelling, and a lively disco, with take-home gifts donated by the Co-op.
Eid
The Black History Month event, attended by 100-200 people, was a success largely due to Lisa Ellis's programming and Astrid Levitt's arts and crafts activities, featuring musical performances from young musicians and traditional dancers, as well as Persian music by Peyman Heydarian on the santur.
St Patricks Day
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with WHACS: A community event featuring live music, Irish dance, crafts, and a message from the Mayor of Barnet on the power of arts to unite cultures.
Urban Tree Festival
WHACS participated in the sixth annual national celebration of urban trees on May 17, 2023, in West Hendon, offering activities and discussions on the value of trees in urban areas, supported by local eco-initiatives and sponsorships.
Wellness Day
The first event of 2024 at the Barnet Multicultural Centre, featuring health-focused talks, fully booked wellness sessions, and demonstrations, was a success, attracting community engagement and praise from Mayor Nagus Narenthira.
West Hendon Summer Solstice
The Summer Solstice Festival in West Hendon on June 21, 2023, featured diverse performances and workshops, drawing over 500 attendees and coverage by Barnet TV
